Good evening! Hope you’ve had a nice week – I have just got home from a lovely break spent with friends in South Wales. My friend Tessa was invited to Pembrokeshire to stay in a lodge at Bluestone National Park Resort, so I drove over to join in and hang out with uni friends from all over the UK. For those of you familiar with Center Parcs, it is very similar to that – a cute little village set in beautiful surroundings within the national park. I love driving around little places like these, as it makes me feel like a sim in a miniature world. For more information about Bluestone you can head over to her blog where she has posted a review of the resort.
As the park is very close to the west coast of the UK (on a map it’s that sticky-out bit at the bottom of Wales), we were able to make the most of a sunny day and head out to Marloes Sands. Given that I currently live right in the middle of England, I don’t often get the chance to explore beaches so I loved that we were within driving distance of the ocean. The beach is huge and the waves were all lovely and foamy, spraying the sand with a hazy sea-mist as they crashed into the rocks. Whilst on the beach, I took some photos for Tessa’s blog – you can see more of these in her outfit post here.
The pathway down to the beach from the car park on top of the cliff takes about 20 minutes to walk, and there are some fantastic views to enjoy as you turn the last corner on your descent. It was the perfect place for an afternoon stroll and to take some photos; the tide was fairly far out so we were able to walk quite a way. Alternatively, if you prefer little seaside villages with pastel houses, the beautiful town of Tenby is also nearby. I had never been to Tenby before but I’d heard a lot about it from friends, and I can safely say that it didn’t disappoint.
If you’ve been to Pembrokeshire or can recommend any other pretty beaches in the area then I’d love to hear your stories! It is not far from Swansea (my uni town) which I visit from time-to-time, so I’d love to return during the warmer season to explore more of the coastline.
I do have some more photos to share from other days of the trip – check back tomorrow afternoon to see those. For now, I’m heading to bed to get some sleep – it has been a long drive!
Love Marie x
